It’s heartening to see a noticeable increase in the appearance of hedgehogs in the neighbourhood more recently, especially in our gardens where hopefully they’re helping themselves to the slugs they come across – always appreciated!
Sadly, I have also received a report from a local of two hedgehogs being found dead recently on the roads around here as a result of unfortunate meetings with a vehicle.
Having not been so evident for a while, we’re probably not expecting to come across them so much these days but, given these two casualties, maybe we should be more mindful of their presence as well as still trying to avoid the potholes!
In view of their increasing numbers, our chances of encountering them when driving around the place will have increased and I have no doubt that that Mrs Tiggywinkle, her friends and family would all be very grateful!
