Hello everyone,
I’ve just received an email from a concerned villager to say that they’ve found cigarette butts down by a gate in the playing field and, quite understandably, are concerned about the high risk of fire at the moment with everything being tinder dry.
Having seen the sights of devastation from recent fires in the media, I am sure we are all mindful of the huge risks that are present at the moment with the extreme drought we are currently experiencing and a casually discarded cigarette butt has the potential to create huge damage, whether dropped on the dry grass in the playing field or tossed out of a car window into the hedgerow.
Let’s all just be extra careful out there and, in the meantime, I’ll don my headdress and get back to my rain dance!
