It was yet another fantastic show this year!
Here’s a message from Liz from the All Saints Village Show Committee
Wow! What an incredible turnout this year, despite a prolonged period of hot and dry conditions for weeks before the show, the gardeners among you still produced the familiar array of glorious blooms, and fruit and vegetables. The flower judge commented on the high standard of entries this year, so congratulations to you all.
The village hall once again, looked resplendent, decked out in bunting, flowers, fruit and veg, along with cookery, eggs, preserves and drinks; a snapshot of the talent in this Parish.

Additional talent in the form of art and crafts, photography, fun classes including the now popular limericks, were displayed in the church and school. These completed the exhibition and gave the visiting judges plenty to consider. We thank them for giving their time and judging skills so generously.
In addition to the growers – the bakers, makers, writers and creators of all sorts of schedule items, resulted in a display of 454 entries from 83 people, and 11 entries from 5 junior participants. We are especially delighted to welcome several entries from people who are new to the show, and from the five junior entrants.
🏆 Congratulations to all the trophy winners; details of all the results are below, thanks to John Adams, Webmaster, who has also posted a range of photos from the show.
Two trophies get a special mention here. Marcia Rawson is the first recipient of the new, Michael and Hazel Jordan Memorial Trophy for the Best Bloom in the flower classes, in the opinion of the judge, with her superb blue hydrangea (see below).

Clive Bareham, in his role as Guest of Honour this year, together with Michael Shaw, the show’s Honorary President, concluded that Neave McClimonds should be the worthy winner of the Junior Trophy, with her 5 entries across various classes. The art judge was particularly complimentary about Neave’s artistic flair, awarding her Highly Commended.
The afternoon 🐝 buzzed along nicely, although sadly without the bees 🐝 that were due to attend. Evidently the hot weather prevented the use of an observation hive, and their ‘caretaker’ was also unwell and had to cancel. We will try again next year. We thank Rousdon Spinners, J K Willows, Jack Wilson, Ann Carter, and The All Saints Environmental Group for providing further interest in the church and playground.
It was especially poignant that All Saints Quilters hosted a table of quilts made by our friend and neighbour Barbara Foulkes. Barbara had been linked with the Village Show for many years, in various capacities, most recently stewarding the Cookery Classes. It was fitting too, that Cogs was also represented in the church this year, as Barbara had been their president until her sudden, untimely death in December last year.

And finally, big thanks to the kitchen team, for battling with the heat and with an overly cold fridge which played havoc with the dairy products. It didn’t however, prevent plenty of tea, scones and cakes being consumed, to the gentle sound of Katie and Dave busking.
So as always, the committee extends our thanks to everyone who took part, in whatever way. Your participation makes the show what it is – A Wonderful Celebration of our Village!
