Hello everyone,
Linda, our Parish Council Clerk, has kindly asked me to send this around to you all regarding another road closure due to take place in All Saints which you’ll find below. And so it goes, on and on…
I have dreamt that we wake up one day to find our parish suddenly locked in a series of road closures from which we have no escape, consigned to endlessly driving around from one closure to another, trying in desperation to escape.
But it came to pass that a wonderful golden dawn appeared somewhere down the line where we were greeted by a parish with a collection of utilities, finally fit for the 21st century, when road closures would be no more. And, lo, the streets echoed with the sounds of joy!
Here endeth today’s lesson,
Michael
Those of you who live in School Lane will have received a communication from South West Water in relation to a road closure from All Saints Church to All Saints Cross from 23rd May to 31st May 2026. Fortunately, as your Parish Clerk lives in School Lane, I also received the letter, although there was no formal notification sent to the Parish Council. The Work Ref on the letter is for Chardstock, as they were unaware All Saints is a separate entity. This has been rectified and I will receive all notifications in future.
I have ascertained that the work being carried out will be from the property called Ashcroft up to the Village Hall Car Park, but I have been assured that the Car Park will remain accessible at all times. There will be a Road Closed sign at All Saints Cross, but the Pavilion and Field can still be accessed at the moment.
Further works will be continuing through the Summer in School Lane and eventually Smallridge Road down to Weycroft. I will endeavour to keep residents informed of impending road closures as soon as I receive them.
