Hello everyone,
I received a message this yesterday from a villager expressing her concerns about current access to properties in All Saints affected by the ongoing roadworks currently taking place for the next three weeks or so.
With this in mind, I had a word with a couple of the guys working there today who told me that it shouldn’t be a problem in the evenings and weekends when the road should be passable when they aren’t there. They also added that if someone had to get through while they are working that would generally be possible too as they could usually move out of the way so we shouldn’t need to worry about emergency situations either. However, to avoid unnecessary hold-ups, if interruptions to their work could be avoided, that would be much appreciated.
With all this endless closure of roads to fix leaks, replace old pipes, digging holes to look for leaks, sometimes coming back to do it again for a second (and maybe a third!) attempt when they still can’t find it, etc., I somehow feel that this presents the Village Hall with an excellent opportunity for fund raising.
How about a parish map on a pinboard and we could then all buy a pin and place it where we think the next water crisis might appear, the winner being presented with a month’s supply of bottled water which we could put together from bottles we’ve all accumulated from South West Water’s generosity when we’ve been left without while they fixed a problem 😂!
Thanks,
Michael
