Some might think that we spend most of our time drinking tea and eating cake. However, today we had the best turnout for a while with up to 16 archers enjoying their sport.
Today’s session was not an All Gold Competition session (sadly for some – see photo), but because a couple of the archers missed last week’s (Round 1) session, they were allowed to compete for their Round 1 score. Shelagh is one of our newest members recruited from last season’s WI introductory session. She had been away but still managed to score a couple of golds. Well done Shelagh!
We also had another couple (Jennifer and Laszlo) who were new to archery. With some able coaching from Ken they were soon hitting the targets. Another great thing about Jennifer and Laszlo was that they lowered the average age of the group significantly! We hope to see them again soon.
And yet another “newbie”. Alan, a longstanding friend from Tytherleigh and a demon table tennis player, thought he’d try his luck at the arrows. Needless to say his natural talent led him to score many golds (OK! not actually any golds, but he enjoyed the session regardless). Welcome Alan and see you soon.
After the session, it was summer picnic time (again). Plenty of great home made goodies with a cuppa (or a beer for some) which rounded off the day beautifully. What a great way to spend a Tuesday afternoon.
Remember, we are always looking for new talent (archery or baking!) so contact Ken if you are interested, or just “come on down” on a Tuesday afternoon at 2pm.
Here are just a few photos.
