We’ve had a number of reports of barbed wire buried in the grass due to a collapsed fence at the top of the field on Bridleway 38, just before you turn towards the beacon. Today was our first opportunity to investigate.
Whilst technically not on the bridleway directly, now that the field gate has been “removed” by the farmer, the actual route is ambiguous. Visitors could easily be misled and we all know that our dogs may not keep strictly to the straight and narrow. Wandering just a metre or two off the path would involve much pain and a vet’s bill or worse.
Today, we did our best to remove the buried wire and roll it up for safety (see photos). We’ll revisit the site with tools next week and complete the clean-up (unless someone beats us to it).
