Speeding in our Parish

You may have noticed the new speed monitoring sign that has popped up in Goldsmith Lane. This sign, known as a Vehicle Activated Speed Sign (VAS) has been installed by the Parish Council to monitor and report on speeding vehicles.

The sign was installed by the Parish Council in response to residents throughout the parish being concerned about speeding on our roads.

The anonymous data is collected by the sign, then is passed to the authorities. If necessary, they may choose to actively monitor a speeding hotspot with additional traffic patrols.

The sign will be rotated and relocated every so often so the Parish Council can build a picture of the speed profile for our roads. This sign works in conjunction with the Community Speed Watch team that you might also see out and about with their radar equipment.
