You Came to the Cabaret!

Cabaret!

The village hall, transformed into an ambient Cabaret club, set the scene for an evening of exquisite entertainment.

To a sold out room, with an air of excited anticipation the local talent stepped up.

Devised and ably hosted by Steve Holt and Richard Greaves, the evening showcased acts galore.

After our hearts were melted by the All Saints Primary school choir (and they were packed off home to bed!) things heated up!

An authentic monologue from a local actor, a comedic explanation of birdwatching, an insight to the local Police Help desk and a Lyrical love story, all had the audience in fits of laughter, joining in with some well-timed heckles, in true cabaret style.

And there was music. The Windy Bowers had the audience on their feet, clapping along to a wonderful selection of uplifting music. The Rip Chords performed carefully crafted and reworked renditions of well known songs, and a guitar and vocal duo shared an original song and a pop classics mash up.

In between, our hosts performed hilarious sketches, groan worthy jokes and songs from the musicals with a brilliant version of ‘Well, Did You Evah!’

Not forgetting the Choir.  After only a few months of rehearsals, they pulled out all the stops and showcased a selection of songs from different musical genres – including ‘Cabaret’ of course.

The interval food was spectacular with table service so that all the audience could sit back and enjoy the show, with local beer and cocktails served throughout the evening.

What a ‘Swell Party’ it was.

Thanks to all those who helped make this possible, it truly was a group effort proving yet again, what a great village community this is.
