I’ve received details of something that Axminster Care Service can provide which I think potentially might be of interest to some of you. They are offering to take people to visit loved ones in the RD&E hospital if they are unable to get there independently.
Their focus is to support those who can no longer drive or use public transport and they would need to be registered with the Axminster Medical Practice. Additionally, there would be a small charge of £10 towards costs. T
his will initially be taking place on Tuesday afternoons with hospital visit from 2-4pm and the driver would pick up and drop off at individual’s homes. In practice this will mean picking people up around 1pm and delivering them back home by 5pm.
ACS already offer drivers to take patients to their hospital/medical appointments and have done so successfully for some years now.
Should you wish to use their services, the phone number is 01297 35550 and is manned 9.30 – 10.30, Monday to Friday. There is an answerphone should you want to ring outside these times and someone will get back to you the following day.
