Hello – well, here I am again, this time recounting Ricky and Jonny’s mystery for the final time… and then revealing it.
This “mystery” is, of course, Ricky and Jonny’s way of taking part in the VE Day Anniversary. It’s simply a story (made with love for their community) that hopefully adds a little light relief to you and makes you chuckle, but also commemorates, in a small way, the sacrifices of those who went before.
Not only is it the VE Day 80th Anniversary, but also the 1st Anniversary of the PRoWlers. Ricky and Jonny took on the role officially at last year’s Annual Parish Council meeting. Nowhere near as important as VE Day, but still an anniversary none the less.
So… let’s get back to the story.
Remember how they found a mysterious, rusty, old film canister which turned out to contain a film?
It took them some time, effort and an amount of technical nouse to get the 1940’s home movie cleaned (they used carbolic soap and a glass washboard), restored (they used Brasso and Brillo), edited (of course, kitchen scissors and sticky tape) and then converted to a format that would work here (lots of geeky stuff – don’t ask).
(You can see a selection of these tools in the gallery below – click on an image to enlarge the gallery.)

Back to our mystery… some of you may be wondering what all the fuss is about, but this home movie was a very timely find what with the 80th Anniversary of the end of World War 2.
So, settle down for a few short minutes, have a cup of Camp Coffee and (hopefully) enjoy this long-lost episode of a classic comedy. Apologies for some of the scratches and jumps – it’s the best the boys could do.
Click the projector to start the movie.
It just leaves me to say… We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when – but I know we’ll meet again some sunny day for a further (more traditional version of) PRoWlers’ Progress.
Until then – Tat-tar for now.
