Saturday 26th July in the sunshine saw our very own Windy Bowers playing their first ever “gig” outside of All Saints.
For those that don’t know, the Windy Bowers are a group of musicians, some windy and some bowey with some plucky and some strummy. Oh! and don’t forget… one squeezy. They hail from our parish coming from All Saints, Alston and Churchill. Did you know, they only came together for last year’s Cabaret show, then performed to much praise at our Christmas Concert.
They were invited to play at the Great Jackleigh Farm Garden Party that was held to raise funds for the Axminster Hospital League of Friends to help fund the Axminster Hospice at Home initiative.
Needless to say they jumped at the chance to help out… and had a great time doing it.
The event was attended by an appreciative audience and some local dignitaries, namely Andrew Kennon, Deputy Lieutenant of Devon; Jill Farrow, Mayor of Axminster and Philip Evans, Mayor of Lyme Regis.
A cream team, with fancies and finger sandwiches, together with cups of tea and a glass of Pimms added to the party atmosphere.
So well done to our very local Windy Bowers (or should that be very Windy local Bowers… I don’t know!?)
